Professor of English phonetics Henry Higgins is betting that he can turn Eliza Doolittle, a Cockney florist, into a lady. The musical adaptation of Lerner and Loewe from Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw presents a score containing classical songs such as “I could have been dancing all night”, “Take me to a church in time”, “This is not would not be love. ” In the street where you live “, ” The Rain in Spain “and” I got used to his face”.
The musical by Joe Iconis and Joe Tracz will play the Windy City’s Apollo Theater beginning in April.
The upcoming Chicago engagement of Be More Chill, marking the primary North American staging of the musical since its Broadway bow, has begun to assemble its cast, with current Northwestern student Liam Oh starring as Jeremy.
The all-Chicago company also includes Jeremiah Alsop as Michael, Rebecca Hurd as Christine, Teresa Lagamba as Jenna, Michelle Lauto as Chloe, Eben K. Logan as Brooke, Billy Rude as Jake, Koray Tarhan as Rich, and Alex Goodrich as Mr. Heere/Mr. Reyes. Additional casting, including the role of The Squip, are going to be announced later.
The cult-favorite musical, about a mean teenager who takes a pill alleged to make people “more chill,” features a score by Joe Iconis and a book by Joe Tracz. It premiered at New Jersey’s Two River Theater in 2015, followed by Off-Broadway and Broadway transfers.
The show recently began at London’s Other Palace with some revisions, which can even be incorporated into the Chicago run, which reunites director Stephen Brackett and choreographer Chase Brock.
Tickets are presently at a sale for Paula Vogel’s Pulitzer-winning play How I Learned to Drive, landing on Broadway just because the following spring in a creation featured by stars of the first 1997 off-Broadway generation, Mary-Louise Parker and David Morse. The story goes this way… It’s a horrid day at the Addams family’s manor, with the regularly moving toward tempest mists mirroring the desolate air that has plagued the family unit. Little girl Wednesday, presently eighteen years of age, has ended up encountering an astonishing new sensation, one that alarms both her and her family: she has begun to look all starry eyed at.
Lucas Beineke, the object of her affections, originates from an apparently typical family, and he and his folks Mal and Alice are headed to the Addams’ domain to turn out to be better familiar with the family over supper. Brother Pugsley, who has been to a great extent overlooked since Wednesday’s association with Lucas, starts to miss the consideration his sister recently paid to him and begs her to torment him again.
In the interim, mother Morticia winds up tangled over her consistently developing little girl’s freshly discovered emotions, while absent father Gomez essentially wishes things would remain the manner in which they were. As they figure out how to identify with the Beinekes and adapt to Wednesday’s sentiment, one thing is sure: the Addams family will never be the equivalent.

Initially titled SpongeBob SquarePants, the Broadway generation opened December 4, 2017, at the Palace Theater where it went through September 16, 2018. The property has been rebranded for the non-Equity national visit.

Julianna Boulter Blake is thrilled to be working with such a wonderful cast and crew, Julianna holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music from Utah Valley University and has a love for singing, playing the piano, and composing. While music may be her first love, theatre also holds a special place in her heart. She has enjoyed acting for many years, and is heavily involved with The Echo Theatre in Provo–a venue she founded with her husband. Some of her recent acting roles include Susannah Cibber in Joyful Noise and The Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods. When Julianna is not working on creative endeavors, she goes to her awesome day job at Property Solutions. Julianna is also blessed with wonderful friends and family, and she’d like to thank them for their support. Mandi Titcomb is a recent graduate of Westminster College with her BFA in Theatre Arts. She was last seen in the chorus of Salt Lake Greek Festival’s Hecuba. Director’s Notes from Dave Hanson:
A great title is one that makes you immediately pass over twenty others with a newfound need to see what that short collection of words really has to offer. Regardless of anything else, you’re anxious to see who these lesbians are, and what that has to do with a tasty breakfast dish. You crack open the pages with a wide range of unrealized expectations to find that, unlike other great titles that have fooled you in the past, the content of this new treat is full and rich. The warm and delicious dialogue is equal to the golden title that makes up its crust. All of the ingredients are balanced with just the right complimentary flavors of humor, emotion and poignancy….OK, enough with the bad metaphor. It’s just making me hungry.
The story of 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche, though told through somewhat absurdist-colored glasses, is one of repeated social meaning. Our own story as a society has overflowed with those who, at times, lacked a fully recognized identity. Issues of discrimination in the name of race, religion, gender, class, sexual orientation, politics, or anything that engenders a poisonous “Us vs. Them” mentality, rest as blemishes in our societal makeup. But, even though they are blemishes, it’s worth looking back and seeing them as examples of human resilience and lessons to shape our current story. We fought through (and continue to fight with) racism, gender equality, LGBTQ rights and many other unnecessary differences. These ladies, wrapped in a post WWII era that sought to once again reduce their importance once the men came home from war, show us the fight to find their identity in a society that wants to limit it. In some respects, it’s the injustices of the past, and our victories in challenging them, that allow us to look back and remember that the fight is always worth fighting, and we should all be afforded a full and meaningful identity. In some small part, our five lesbians allow us a moment to do just that.
But let’s not forget that tonight is also about humor, innuendo and the absurd. Relax, and enjoy the company. You may find yourself laughing, crying and feeling the comradery. Embrace it. After all, you are the Susan B. Anthony Society for the Sisters of Gertrude Stein. You are just as much a part of our story as anything else. Tonight we are all one. Tonight we stand together for justice and hilarity. Tonight, you may just find that there’s a lesbian inside each and every one of you!

Natalie Easter is an active performer and musician throughout the United States and Italy. Her vocal prowess covers opera, art song, oratorio, and musical theater. She holds a Master of Music degree in Opera Performance from the University of Kansas, where she was fortunate to work with mezzo-soprano, Joyce Castle. She has a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance, as well as a Theatre minor from the University of Utah. Performance highlights include: Hänsel in Hänsel & Gretel (Utah Lyric Opera), Mrs. Anderssen in A Little Night Music(Pine Mountain Music Festival), Dorabella in Così fan tutte (Seagle Music Colony, University of Kansas), Charlotte in Werther (University of Kansas), Meg in Little Women (University of Utah), April in The Cabaret Girl (Ohio Light Opera), Alisa in Lucia di Lammermoor (La Musica Lirica), and Lady Larken in Once Upon A Mattress (Sugar Factory Playhouse). Lindsay Bateman (SUSAN)
Lindsay is thrilled to be working, for her first time, with Silver Summit Theatre Company! She is so pleased to be working with such a talented cast of individuals. Lindsay graduated with her AFA degree in Musical Theatre from Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs. She has been involved in theatre her whole life, first appearing onstage in a dance concert at 3 months old. However, she never gained her passion for it until high school. Some of her favorite roles include the Title role in Elton John’s Aida, Muriel in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and Sonia in Godspell. She has also appeared as part of the Octet twice in Hale Centre Theatre’s A Christmas Carol. When she is not on stage she loves hanging around with her husband watching copious amounts of movies, playing with their cats, and most importantly building a legacy for their future family. “This has been one of the most fantastic journeys through life. Theatre gives anyone the ability to learn so much about the world around them, but most importantly, themselves. I couldn’t have started this journey without my mother. I also want to thank Joseph, for carrying my heart and always being there for me.
Eve Speer (SARAH)
Eve Speer (Sarah) is an avid karate master. She is currently working towards her paisley belt and can shred a piece of paper with her bare hands. Favorite roles include: Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Be the Bard; Philotisin �?Tis Pity She’s a Whore at the American Shakespeare Center; Lady Macbeth, Hermione in The Winter’s Tale with Maryland Shakespeare Festival; Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd at Midvale Main Street Theatre, Mandy in Not the Messiah at The Grand, and Mae in Reefer Madness at the Egyptian with Darkhorse Company Theatre. She holds an MFA in Shakespeare and Renaissance Lit in Performance and a BFA in Acting. She is currently directingTwelfth Night at the Echo Theatre in Provo. As a 30 something single lady with a slew of crazy married friends, this show kinda sorta speaks to her. She is working with Mr. Sondheim on a sequel to Company entitled Is Being Alive Really Worth Giving Up My Valuable Netflix Time? or Isn’t Having a Dog Enough?

Brandon most recently appeared in a stunning evening gown as Mrs. Betty Parkinson in Monty Python’s Not the Messiah at the Grand Theater. Other favorite roles include Poor Husband in A Christmas Carol, Albert in Bye Bye Birdie, Professor Bhaer in Little Women and JP Morgan in Ragtime. Mason is very excited to be performing in one of his favorite shows of all time! Mason is a Musical Theatre major at the University of Utah (Class of 2017), and brings a ton of energy and enthusiasm to his role. Some of his favorite roles include Judge Turpin from SWEENY TODD and Young Scrooge in A CHRISTMAS CAROL at Hale Centre Theater. When he isn’t onstage, he is spending time with his friends and family, directing at Lehi High School, and living life to the fullest. Rick has worked in Utah theater for several years as a director, choreographer, music director, and actor. He holds a B.A. from Weber State University in Musical Theatre and is the Artistic Director of Ziegfeld Theater Company in Ogden. Recent directing credits: Avenue Q (regional premiere), Road Show (regional premiere), The Producers, Next to Normal, Into the Woods. Recent acting credits: Anything Goes (Moonface), Xanadu (Danny), Tartuffe (Orgon). Rick shared with us how grateful he is to his family, the Ziggy’s (you know who you are), and most of all to my teachers: Neal, for inspiring me; Tracy, for challenging me; and Jim, for crafting me. Ricky has performed in musicals at Centerpoint Legacy Theater, Hale Centre Theater in West Valley and Orem, Egyptian Theater in Park City. other recent eclectic performances include soloist for the Faure Requiem at St. Paul’s Episcopal church, performances with Utopia Early Music, and co-director of Consortium Men’s Ensemble. he also plays architect during the day.

Brian is thrilled to be in this beautiful show. Past credits include Shrek in “Shrek: The Musical”, Leaf Coneybear in “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”, Gaston in “Beauty and the Beast”, Barksdale in “The Civil War”, Ozzy in “The Scarlet Pimpernel”, Mr. Green in “Clue” and Pharoah in “Joseph…..”. She misses her native land of Montana, but stays in UT for all the opportunities Big Sky Country just doesn’t have. Heather Walsh Shelley (APRIL)
Heather is pleased to work with such a great cast. This is her first show with Silver Summit, but you may have seen her elsewhere as she has appeared in a number of local theaters including Hale West Valley, Capitol Theater, Utah Opera, The Grand, and others. Before settling down in Utah she performed in China, in a variety of venues including mainly opera, musical theater, and film. She holds an associate’s degree in Performing Arts, a BA in English, and a master’s degree in Linguistics. She has studied seven languages, and now splits her time between taking care of her two boys and teaching English and Arabic. She would like to send her love and gratitude to Eric for supporting her performing addiction.

Anne has been Music Director for productions at Hale Centre Theatre, The Grand Theatre, Wasatch TheatreCompany, Parable Productions, Westminster College, The Egyptian Theatre Company, Dark Horse, Silver Summit Theatre Company, The Children’s Theatre and Utah Repertory Theater Company. Her formal training was at Brigham Young University, and she has been the choral director at Bennion Junior High for 25 years. Anne has worked with Merrill Osmond, Jill Santoriello, Will Swenson, Jason Robert Brown, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Jason Danieley, Marin Mazzie, Jeff Whiting and Pacek & Paul. She did audition accompaniment for Big League Productions in New York City, stage managed auditions for The Marius Company and was a vocal coach for Utah Opera and Symphony. Anne is part-owner of Audition Advantage.

Austin Stephenson- Lighting Designer
Austin has been turning light switches on and off all up and down the Wasatch Front for 3 years now. He swears off theatre at least once a year, only to be pulled back in by someone needing his help. He wasn’t excited to work on “Company” until he heard and saw the cast in action, and was immediately pulled in. This will be his second show with Silver Summit, after designing lights for “The Pavilion”. Other than his previous Silver Summit show, his favorite shows to work on so far have been “Spamalot” and “Into The Woods” with The Ziegfeld Theater in Ogden. My uncle suffered a stroke earlier this week. The prospect isn’t good. He’s currently in the ICU of the same hospital where my pregnant niece is on bed rest because she started having preterm labor at 33 weeks.
I realize that’s kind of personal information. But, it’s my family. These are just two members of this truly massive group of people that are hilarious and ridiculous and smart and infuriating and generous and fierce and I love every one of them so much I feel like my chest is going to burst open. They have seen me at some of my best and worst moments — through childhood and adolescence and marriage and parenting and now the beginning of aging. And I’ve seen them through those things as well. And it’s hard and beautiful to watch. And I have feelings about how some of them have approached different aspects of their lives. And I know they have feelings about my approach to life too.
And I think about our family gatherings compared to the Weston family gathering in “August: Osage County,” and I realize I’m unbelievably lucky. It didn’t happen in a moment or even out loud, but we made a set of agreements as a family that makes it possible for us to be with each other.
We don’t say things purposely to hurt or expose each other. We do what we can to support each other’s decisions, even if we don’t agree with them. We steer away from painful or loaded topics. And sometimes, we lie. And the little lies and the little omissions keep us together and keep us moving forward and keep us loving each other. The Westons…are a different story.
